STUDENTS COMBAT AIDS

St. Xavier's College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mapusa, is organizing a one day State Level Workshop on the theme "Students Combat AIDS", in association with Education International, Canadian Teachers Association and Vikasini - Centre for Women's Development (AIACHE).

This workshop is scheduled for 15th February, 2005, from 9:30 am. to 4:30 pm. and aims at unleashing the student power against this dreaded disease.

The workshop will consist of a street play, group discussions and games, thus making it informative and interesting at the same time.

The fact that such a large segment of the population is affected by this disease and the vulnerability of the youth towards this dreaded disease, prompts that some action be taken by students too. This workshop is a small step towards a much larger goal of combating HIV/AIDS.

Goa faces an unprecedented health threat due to AIDS, which is compounded by tourism and the consequent coastal life style. The problem is compounded by the lack of awareness and strong will power.
