XAVIER'S STUDY CENTER FOR IAS, IPS, IFS etc EXAMINATIONS
After successfully completing the first batch of preparatory classes for
answering the UPSC examinations, St. Xavier's College is announcing the
commencement of the second batch preparatory classes for IAS, IPS, and IFS
etc. These examinations consist of preliminary examinations and final
(main) examinations.
The preliminary examinations will be held somewhere in the month of May
2006 for which the candidates will have to apply by January 2006. Those
who qualify in the the preliminary examinations can appear for the
main examination.
The minimum qualification for appearing for the above examination is
graduation in any discipline. Those answering the Third Year can also
apply, provided they produce the passing certificate later on. The age
limit is 21 to 30 years.
The preliminary examinations will consist of two papers both having
duration of two hours each. Paper I is General Knowledge of 150 marks and
Paper II (optional subjects) is of 300 marks. Optional subject is to
be selected from the following list: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry,
Commerce, animal husbandry, Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry,
Physics, Civil Engineering, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography,
Indian History, Law, Mathematics, Political Science, Mechanical
Engineering, Philosophy, Psychology, Geology, Public administration,
Sociology, Statistics and Zoology.
The syllabus for General Studies will be based on General Science, current
events on National and International importance, History of India and
Indian national Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Politics and
Economy, General Mental Ability, Numerical Aptitude, etc.
The preparatory course will commence from mid August 2005, on weekends.
The classes will continue till February, 2006. The course fee is Rs.
3000/-. First Year and Second Year Degree students can also join for
these classes, but they can appear for the examination when they are in
the Third Year.
